Yevka and her (yet unnamed) dragon have faced more seasons in the arena than Tally and Leiaura put together. They spent six years on a top-ranked team, working in a close-knit group with their teammates and longtime friends.

But six years is a long time for a team to be in one of the top spots. The managers felt that the crowds were getting bored of the familiar faces. It was time for a shakeup.

So two seasons ago, Yevka and her team went into the arena for a semifinal match, and only Yevka came back out.

Her survival was an accident; it was supposed to be a clean sweep. She and her dragon were both badly injured. They spent the next season in rehabilitation, her management team scrambling to decide how to spin her accidental survival. A villain arc next, they decided. Some kind of storyline where she's back to take revenge on the team that killed her friends—coincidentally, of course, the reigning champions, who Tally's team will face at the end of the season. It's a good spin. And Yevka is such an obedient little celebrity. There's no question she'll follow her orders. She always does.

But this time, something's different. This time, she's angry. Yes, she'll follow orders. She'll bide her time. She'll play her part, like she always has. No one will suspect her. That's when she'll strike.
